Ellie Knight Obituary, Death Athens, Georgia – The University of Georgia (UGA) community is mourning the loss of Ellie Knight, a public relations student, who passed away on April 2nd at the age of 22. Ellie, whose death followed a brave and lengthy battle with ovarian cancer, has left a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Ellie’s cancer journey began in December 2023, when doctors discovered an unexplained mass in her abdomen. A few weeks later, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and despite her efforts to manage the disease with chemotherapy, it quickly progressed. Ellie was admitted to the hospital on January 21st, where she underwent chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and numerous medical procedures. She fought with incredible strength and courage through two full rounds of chemotherapy, but unfortunately, the cancer caused irreversible damage to her lungs and kidneys.
Ellie passed away peacefully on April 2nd, surrounded by close family and friends. Her family, particularly her brother Stuart Knight, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff who supported Ellie throughout her treatment. In a tribute, Stuart spoke of Ellie’s loving nature, recalling her as “the best of friends, a loving daughter, an amazing aunt, and the sweetest little sister.”
Though her life was tragically cut short, Ellie’s impact on those around her was profound. Known for her kind spirit, contagious smile, and ability to bring joy to any room, Ellie touched many lives during her short time on earth. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she lived her life to the fullest, radiating positivity and love.
