Roy Sung Brookline, MA, died on March 23 | Celebration of Life

Roy Sung passed away on March 23, 2025, he was 32 years old. He was Wayland High School and Carnegie Mellon University alumnus, was a passionate swim coach and gifted software programmer. He was a gifted swimmer who set multiple records and best times at Carnegie Mellon and in New England swimming. His love of swimming brought him back to his roots at Shawmut Aquatic Club, where he rose to prominence as a coach.

Roy committed himself to influencing young swimmers’ lives and carefully and devotedly developing their potential. He was a great effect on everyone he worked with and took great pleasure in mentoring others. Roy’s devoted family and everyone who had the honor of knowing him will miss him terribly.

Roy had a passion for life and enjoyed a wide range of interests, including swimming, coaching, anime, action movies, and Patriots football. He waa interested in cooking and loved Korean BBQ. Those who knew Roy knew he had a heart of gold, prioritizing the needs of others and offering support wherever it was needed. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others will never be forgotten.

Celebration of Life

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Bell-O’dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington Street, Brookline, MA, will host a wake to honor Roy’s life.
